I was able to download and install the V8c trial. Video plays back smoooth as silk in Preivew and Good modes on the same tracks that were jerky in V9. I'll still have to follow up with tech support on this.
Thanks Guy B for "generous" offer, but I'm NOT PAYING for a DOWN GRADE!
Maybe the fine people at Sony Tech will have pitty on me and give me the license for the V8 since I've already paid for the upgrade from Platinum 9? (or maybe I'm just a snowball in "you know where"!) (;
Preview function in Vegas Pro 9.0 has changed a little. There is an option that allows the preview to Adjust Size and Quality for Optimal Playback. What happens if you enable / disable that? (Done by right-clicking on Preview Window)
MSK,
I disabled the auto size adjustment and even when I play back at half size in Preview quality the playback is still jerky. Again, odd that the same single track with the transitions, pans, zooms and x-fades work fine in V8 and Platinum 9.
It's disappointing because I really like V9 and I'm already using lots of the great features VP9 has to offer, so I'm working around this using Platinum 9 to do the video editing and the sections that I want to use a V9 feature are exported into V9, add the effect, render and import back into Platinum 9.
Now the question is should I do my work in V8 Trial to familiarize my self with the feature of Vegas Pro more quickly? The thing is, I dont want to be in the middle of a project(s) when the trial expires and then I'm stuck not being able to import the project into Platinum 9.
There is very little difference between V8 and V9 that would likely apply to many of us. Using V8 vs. V9 to become familiar with the differences between Platinum and Pro is not going to be more insightful, IMO. The features in Platinum and Pro are very similar with Pro just having more capability. The best way to learn V9, again IMO, is to plunge in and use it. I think you'll find it is so similar to Platinum that you won't need to go back and forth.
