What happens when you hit the 4GB limit? Does the program crash? Or
does it just stop rendering?

What type of file are you rendering to? I believe the auto-split only
applies to .AVI files.

The program crashes. I'm trying to render to avi.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression the 4gig limitation was worked around when outputting to tape, by making multiple files, but if you are making to file, you still have to deal with the 4gig limit.

Even if you save to file VF will automatically create as many files as necessary: myfile, myfile01, myfile02, etc., limited to available hard drive space of course.

The "problem" is there's no way around the 4GB ceiling as it relates to making a larger single file on a FAT 32 system. Under NTFS (Windows XP) there is no such limitation. The advantage if you want to call it that is it makes it somewhat simpler to import into other applications for additional processing like I frequently do instead of needing to reload segements of the same file.

Dave,
I've tried to:
write my movie to file,
print to DV tape,
write movie to video CD.
VF tries to render on each.
I've even tried to pre-render, but to no avail. Any sugestions? I'm frustrated.
Thanks T. Smith

The capture and output are controlled by the capture program. I know VF1 came with the program to run seperately and VF2 has the program more integrated. It is possible that VF2 is actually using the old capture program for output, so you might try either deleting or temporarily renaming the old capture software and making sure that VF2 is using the capture software that came with it.

Just a thought, otherwise I don't know anything else to try.
