Downloading video files from camcorder

When I download video off my Sony DCR TRV-350 onto my computer and place the files in the timeline for editing, it plays back slow and choppy. I have all of my video files as well as my Sony Movie Studio software loaded on a seperate hard drive (E:) and wondered if anyone can give me some pointers on making it play normally. When I was propted to download from the camera it was automatically putting the files on my C: drive and I had to work to get it on the larger E: drive. Could this be causing the problem? Please help. I am putting together a DVD of underwater footage taken in the Great Lakes and cant seem to figure this one out on my own. Thanks in advance for any information you can send my way.

What you see in terms of playback on the preview screen is highly dependant upon your computer and whether it can keep up with the processing requirements. What type of machine do you have (processor speed, memory, etc.)?

The end result (such as a DVD) should playback fine, though if your machine is seriously underpowered it may take some time to get to the end result.

set your video preview window to draft. It should smooth out considerably but with lower resolution.

Deepdiver, when you launch the capture app. under Options menu ; Preferences; Disk Management, You'll see all of you HDD, you can select or deselect any drive you want to use as your capture drive. Hope this helps.
