Drag and Drop Not Working properly in Vegas Pro 20 (build 403).

Peter-Resch wrote on 6/3/2023, 8:13 PM

A couple of weeks ago drag and drop in Vegas Pro 20 worked normally as expected.

I could:

drag clips from File manager to Project Media

drag clips on to the timeline from Project Media.

I could move clips around bins by dragging and dropping them.

Now I can’t do these actions.

I can still:

drag clips from File manager to the timeline

move video and audio clips around in the timeline normally with the mouse.

Drag effects from Media Generator and Transitions to the timeline

Other Windows drag and drop actions work normally.

I checked the setting for vegas200.exe running in administrator mode, Vegas Pro 20 wasn’t set to run in administrator mode.

One suggestion was in: Preferences > General to check Enable Drag and Drop. There is no such setting that I could see.

The only changes to the system that I’m aware of are the routine Windows updates.

What if you drag the thumbnail from the bottom where the file name is, don't drag from any area where you see a picture?

Peter-Resch wrote on 6/3/2023, 8:49 PM

That helps though I still can't drag clips from File Manager to Project Media like I could before.

Now I can drag clips on to the timeline from Project Media and move clips around bins by dragging and dropping them selecting their filename.

I'm sure I could drag the clips icon around to the timeline et al before and not have to drag the filename.

Anyway, I can live with your solution.

Thanks for that.

To me a new annoying bug, trying to drag the thumbnail now trims the video clip instead of dragging the thumbnail to the timeline. Now you have to aim exactly the border or the clipsname to drag to the timeline, for me quite annoying, especially when you want to drag several clips at once.

What I found (and reported it sometime ago in the 403 thread) is that:

1) if you launch Vegas as administrator you cannot drag clips to timeline or into project bin from windows explorer.
2). you cannot drag clips to the time line from the project media bin to the time line if you left click the media video area
3) you can drag clips to timeline from project bin if you left click the blue frame of the media once highlighted
4). If you move the scroll line in the clip video window and then drag via the blue frame it will trim the clip to the scroll line when dragging.

Indeed there were more issues showing up in present and previous build concerning drag and drop in Vegas Media and Explorer tab.
