@Greg-Beach Have you inadvertently activated 'Auto Ripple'.
This is Auto Ripple enabled in VMS16 (not the Platinum version).

I can not drag pictures to get a overlap transition between them. It just started on all new projects. It was always ok in the past?

now when i drag a picture over the previous one slightly for a transition, it just shoves it over??

You probably disabled the Automatic Crossfades:
