Dream bubble effect

My aim is to create a short intro into the main body of a video whereby the subject is lying in bed dreaming of far away and distant shores.
To this end I would like to create a dream bubble positioned above the subject through which a series of short still images will appear. I've looked at the cookie cutter tool but there are no options for a dream bubble shape although I guess that I could create one in Photoshop. If this option is chosen, and say a psd file created is it possible to save this in the FX folder for future use and if so, how and where is this folder to be found?
Of course, if anyone can provide links to any video or written tutorials on this subject that would also be very much appreciated. Thanks.
VMSPP v11.

It won't be an FX, so don't expect to be able to access it as such. You'll use it as a compositing mask. Make your bubble white on a black background, using a soft faded edge if you wish. Put it on the top track, add the Sony mask effect, and set the compositing mode to Multiply (Mask). Place the dream images on the next track below it and make it a child of the top track. Place the video of the sleeping person on the next track down. Now, wherever the bubble is white you'll see the dream images, and wherever it's black you'll see the sleeper. The faded edge will let the two images blend softly into each other.
