When you select a button in the Workspace panel, a toolbar will appear below the panel.

The "S" button reveals tools for creating drop shadows.

Steve thanks but that drop shadow only works on text. We are trying to find a way of adding a drop shadow to a button image without having to go back and forth to a graphics programmel

Put up a "dumb" button that doesn't do anything and alter its appearance and offset it? I haven't done this, but maybe it's possible?

That's a great idea, Grazie!

Especially if you're just using it behind square buttons, you could create one black square graphic (or dummy button) and offset it slightly behind your button to create a shadow effect.

Great idea guys about a dummy button. Is this something that I can create in DVDA or must it be imported from the graphics programme? The problem with the latter is if I want to rescale it in DVDA behind a button that may be larger, or smaller, in size.

You can create a button that doesn't connect to anything just be clicking the New Button button on the Buttons panel.

Exactly Steve. That's what I was badly indicating.

..."the New Button button on the Buttons panel".? All I seem to see is an insert button in that panel. What does the " new button button" look like please?
Steve Grisetti wrote on 1/24/2011, 11:22 AM
Isn't there a Insert New button with a yellow plus sign on it in the upper left corner of the Button panel?

I think Insert>Empty button and then select a coloured image as its media works well.

Thanks

tried what you suggested to get a drop shadow but the balck image created only overlays the chapter button image and even with the object position command black rectangle stays ontop of the button and doesnt go underneath

Any ideas how to move the black image beneath the chapter image?
TOG62 wrote on 2/2/2011, 1:51 AM
This is supposed to be controlled by Object Order, but I can't get it to work - although I'm sure it did when I first tried it.
Godfrey wrote on 2/2/2011, 5:28 AM
Thanks

I also cannot get it to work.

Have you managed to create any drop shadow to a button any other way?
TOG62 wrote on 2/2/2011, 9:03 AM
No. I never felt the need. I suppose you could create the button graphic in a photo editor and make the drop shadow as part of it.
