Anyone got any ideas? Before Winxp SP1 this didnt really happen much but its driving me up the wall now

Every once in a while I hear a click almost like the doors opening in star trek kinda sound, then something tries to change my sample rate to 32 k or bleow. Ive set system sounds off, put do not map thru this device in control panel, deleted system sounds all to no avail.

Any *.whatever extensions I should look for to delete?
