dropping frames after XP SP1a

¡§X¡¨ed out with XP:

Window XP professional is not letting me print to tape on any video apps. Tried VV4 print to tape and export to tape in Windows XP¡¦s NLE..

When I try to print to tape it looks like frames are dropping. The image on the external monitor gets more contrast and then it jitters before image goes black for a second then image comes back for 10 seconds then starts dropping again.

This all started after installed XP SP1a (I didn¡¦t backup or archive before the update) ƒ¼

I am using Adaptec (duo usb2/1394) firewire pci card, it worked fine before.

Any suggestions

Setup: Sony TRV 950 camcorder, Compaq dual Xeon 2.4, 512mg rdram , 30g OS drive, 120g WD 7200 media drive

Your hard drive DMA may have been disabled when you installed the service pack.

To enable DMA mode using the Device Manager

1. Open Device Manager.

2. Double-click IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers to display the list of controllers and channels.

3. Right-click the icon for the channel to which the device is connected, select Properties, and then click the Advanced Settings tab.

4. In the Current Transfer Mode drop-down box, select DMA if Available if the current setting is "PIO Only."
If the drop-down box already shows "DMA if Available" but the current transfer mode is PIO, then the user must toggle the settings. That is:
• Change the selection from "DMA if available" to PIO only, and click OK.
• Then repeat the steps above to change the selection to DMA if Available.
