You've got something set wrong. Pink means the video event is out of sync.
Make sure Snapping, and Quantize to Frames are turned on, that your project frame rate matches your video, and until you get used to it, leave Rippling turned off.

Now, start over in a new project, because just enabling these controls does not correct event positions in your existing timeline.

Snapping was enabled, as was Quantify to Frames.

The project setting was done using Match to video, 29.97 fps.

I deleted the transitions by "convert to cut", and the pink went away.

This project is WAY to far invested to start a new one, about 80 hours of editing so far. I'll need to investigate more what is happening.

Sounds like your video and audio are ungrouped. "Ignore Event Grouping" may be the culprit.

You must create your overlaps by using the / key or dragging the event edge. Moving the event itself will mess things up, possibly including sync depending on the way other things are set.

Ignore Event Grouping was not checked. I created the transition by dragging it onto the edge between the clips using the default settings, where it overlapped each clip by the same amount.

I rendered and Made Movie onto a DVD and it all seemed ok, so I'm confused as to what the pink is telling me regarding any sync issues.

You create a transition by dragging one event over another so they overlap, or by using keyboard commands, but not by placing the transition between event boundaries.
There are interactive tutorials on using transitions and all other basic features, accessible from the toolbar in your program.

Yes. I discovered this last night. I did not have any overlap between my events and that was what the pink coloring was telling me I believe - a "poor" transition made up of duplicated frames.

Thank you,

Of course. If your event edge is at the beginning or end of the media, lengthening it by any means will start it over, from the beginning.
