YES! It's the most affordable of the SONY VTRs. I just got one about a month ago. What a timesaver. It's S-VHS cabled to my VHS-VCR and firewired to my PC. No more plugging and unplugging camcorders and all that stuff. Rock solid connections and recognized by all components...in a word, reliable.

I encountered some "print to tape" challenges but found an alternative that works fine. I used to PPT from the Tools>Print video to DV tape menu. But the black leader/SMPTE test pattern with tone timing was unreliable.

Now I go to the Media Pool and click on the camcorder icon. From there I use the "Record to Device" icon in the PPT section of Vidcap. It's actually easier to regulate the amount of leader tape when dubbing to VHS.

I agree. The dsr-11 is a very solid performer. Add in it can play and record in the pal format (if that is important to you) as well as in the dvcam format. In my opinion it is the cheapest pro dv deck out there.
