which setting should i use for recording? internal or external?

if i use external i black a tape with no tc!?

on the other hand, i want timeline continuity on my print to tape....

If you want real TC I think you need to be recording in DVCAM, switch to external and TC on tape will match what Vegas sends it.
Note though that Vegas sends project TC, if you want the TC to start at something other than 0 you need to offset it in Vegas.

that's what i thought. am asking cause the 11 is still to arrive, but am preparing a project on vegas at the moment.

if i start project as usual at 0:0:0:0 on timeline - then do a print to tape with bars, black, etc., will the tape tc start at 23.59.00.00 (or whatever the total bars and black) and program at 0?
