Last time I looked for a list of supported burners, I couldn't find one. They had a list for 1.0 but not 2.0.

My suggestion - use DVDA for authoring and something else for burning. I've got a NEC 3500a in an external enclosure and CopyToDVD handles it fine (to be honest, I've not tried DVDA with it, since the goal was to be able to burn DL DVD's which is something that DVDA doesn't support).

DVDA-2 does not burn dual layer DVDs. I use Nero 6 which does two nifty things: It will burn a dual-layer, including anything DVDA-2 can put into a VIDEO_TS folder, and also has a program (Nero 6 is a bundle of programs) called Recode 2, which will squeeze a dual-layer size DVD movie onto a regular (inexpensive) DVD disc while maintaining impressive quality.
