Dumb copying question....

It must be such a dumb question but .....
How does one copy an event onto another project?
I have created a project "My productions" in a folder call titles, I would like to reuse it into other projects. How do I copy, paste or import or whatever you call it from one project onto another one?
I tried to experiment in a training session before doing it in the main project..
-I thought to make it appear into the media pool . No luck.
-I "lassoed" the events in "My productions", click copy. Once into my "trial session" , I want to paste Insert, but can't see that button. it's not available(light grey).
Your help is much appreciated.
Thanks

No, I don't think it is a dumb question. More a "I want to do something - is it possible?" question.

May be some of the folk know the wheres and why fors of VF internal files - clips etc. I'd wait for a response. There are some really knowledgable people on this forum.

I suppose rendering the "Project" to an avi on your disk and then importing this as another media item is not what you are wanting to do? If it is, I can't see why not. However I'm not sure - I'm almost certain - it will not have all the separate clips/transitions/text items separated out, as you would see if starting from scratch.

Can you open two VF sessions and copy paste? - Haven't tried it and would ask this of the Forum as well just to be on the safe side in not scrambling the programme.

This is a very interesting question, and one I'm sure others are pondering over as I write this.

Interesting....

Save the title as a preset in the text dialog page. You will see the presets displayed in the text/backgrounds and fx panes and you can easily recall them for use in other projects.

Thanks Grazie and SonicEPM.
I will try the preset and let you know...
I had managed to copy and insert paste but I couldn't see the scrolling text I had done.
I had to copy and exit VF and reopen in the project I wanted to import my title....and paste insert...I was partially happy...but..not quite.
Thanks again...

Yes....Now I can see my scrolling text.....But is there another way to copy and paste insert rather than exiting VF...
I would like something simple...don't we all....
I have so much fun doing my titles.... I forgot the rest of the world....
Thanks again for your help

I want to clip a small edited section of one project and paste it into another one.
When I close the first project and open the second one, the clipboard seem to be
wiped clean and I have nothing left to paste.

If the clipboard won't remember the clip, is there some way to save part of a project
as a new file that can be used elsewhere?

At the current time, the only thing you can do is to render that section to a DV .avi file, then insert this file into the other project. Sonic Foundry is aware of this problem, but hasn't given any indication that it will be addressed any time soon.
