Dumb Question

Noticed that if timeline preferences set to 48kc sample rate that if several 44.1 clips are added and synced up and then a DVD render
to Mpeg2 performed they are still in sync. How does V-4 keep them in sync as when in Forge the length of the clip changes when converting?
I don't really have to know this but just in case if someone would ask me.

Vegas resamples audio on the fly, so you don't need to worry about sampling rate. This alone is one of the coolest features of Vegas.

Say I want to bring in an audio track that's 24/96?
I assume if the project properties are 16/48 it gets resampled to16/48?
Should I therefore change the project to 24/96 which will resample any 26/48 track up, mix the whole thing in 24/96 and then downsample to 16/48 for PTT?

Also if I arm a track for record I assume its sample rate / bit depth are detemined by the project properties?

Project properties do determine the sample/bit rate, yes. You can create your own templates, most everything we do is 48K/24 bit, then it's dithered down using the iZotope tool. (see their website for more info on dithering, there is an EXCELLENT whitepaper there)
Bring it in at 24/96 if you wish, then edit to your heart's desire, Vegas will resample at render/PTT.
