Duplicate video event added by V5?

Curious. Just doing conventional trimming and transitions, when occasionally I'll discover a second, duplicate video clip underlying an event. I'll only know when I attempt to adjust a transition, at which point my fade envelopes go crazy. I can then add a new video track, click on the event and drag a second video (only, no audio dup) to the new track and delete it. Can then proceed with my edit. Never saw in V4.
Thoughts?
Thanks, Darryl

Do you have ripple turned on? I use this less and less because I find that it does an amazing of unexpected things. It almost never does the right thing, especially when you have it also affecting markers, etc. It very often does the kind of thing you describe.

It is still a very useful feature if you just have a singel instance of audio and video.

First thing I looked at for exactly the same reason as you. Nope, very rarely go the ripple edit way, it's treated me very unkindly in the past, even V3 and V4. Never have seen this second level event before. Checked for "take." It only shows the one take, even though two events are superimposed. Darryl

Are you accidentally holding down the CTRL key and slightly moving the event? This would copy it.

By golly, you may have something there. I'm actually grabbing the end of an event with a transition in place, and holding CTRL to alter play rate and modify transition point.

Thanks a bunch, I'm pretty sure that cleaning up my act will fix this problem. Darryl
