DV catpure problems & explorer problems !!!

We have just captured a 30min DV clip via firewire (no promax - directly from our dsr-11) and we notice that instead of 1 long 30min clip we have about 40 clips, all of different sizes (MB's) - why is this ?

we have checked our pref's, and cannot se anything like this selected as an option, now when we go into capture, if we record say 5 secs of dv material, we get 2, 3 or more short clips !!! john has just told me it is now working properly again (he is testing whilst i am typing this message!) but he did not make any changes to prefs!!!

is this a known issue ??

another problem, is if we create a folder in catpure options (for where we want to capture our video to) and we capture our clips there, they go straight to the media pool which is great, however if we move over the to explorer window, the folder is not there - then all of a sudden 20 mins later its there ! , this is another intermittent problem and we have made no pref changes !!

any ideas ??

GLEN.

Just a guess, but VV will make seperate clips at scene changes. It determines this by date/time encoded in the signal. You can disable this under the capture preferences.

To get immediate updates in the explorer window, click on the "Refresh" button in the explorer window. Then it will immediately refresh instead of having to wait.

To get a single clip instead of a bunch of clips, go to the capture application, Options, Preferences, to the Capture tab. On this tab, UNCHECK the box that says "Enable DV Scene Detection". NOTE: IF you are on a FAT32 drive, the files will still be split in 4GB segements.
