DV Expo question for SoFo

So I just got the mail and got the little flyer for this years DV Expo East. How come SoFo doesn't seem to have any events there? You can get "DV Certified" in After Effects, Final Cut Pro and Avid Xpress DV how come not VV? Adobe is having their 6 hour "Master Class" as well so how come SoFO isn't having anything like this for their product line? John Jackman is doing a "Make Video Look Like Film" class with "demonstrations" of the "major film-look" packages as well as how to make your own film-look with After Effects - just wondering if he will talk about VV and it's 24P options, but I am not holding my breath. At the least I hope the Panasonic "Power Session" about 'Dv Cinema' uses VV to show how to aquire and edit 24P material.

Saying all of that I do see that Sony will be there on the exhibit floor. Maybe they will have the SoFO line in their booth? SonicDennis? SonicEPM? Any ideas? Comments?

I asked our marketing folks about this, and they said that we weren't planning on being there prior to the acquisition, and are not sure what are our plans are for this show in particular. It's probably too early to tell. Perhaps we will do something in the Sony booth. While we're fully committed to participating at shows like these in the future, but it's going to take some time to execute this transition, and might miss this particular one.

In the meantime, the DV Line road show we're currently on (pitting us against Avid and Pinnacle) is going great! Over 1,110 people are seeing Vegas doing what it does best.

I don't think Vegas needs a class to make you "Certified" I mean it's just too easy and there are lots of resources out there from books to training DVD's. It would be excellent to see Vegas at more shows.

BTW, I saw Vegas @ the DVLine NLE Shootout! It was impressive! Vegas has pinnacle and AVid beat for sure. If you have a free day you should go check it out!

I was being semi-ironic. IMHO I don't really think you need to certified in *anything* editing wise. Having lessons in how to use a system I can see, but too many people now think that being "certified" make you a good editor. I brought this up in another thread about Avid and how you see help wanted type ads seeking people who are "Avid Certified" for an editing job. I don't agree but I do feel that the fact that many people seek out those who are "certified" perhaps it is time someone offered Vegas Video "certification."
