i dont know if this is the right place to post this question.
if i record a tape on a 3ccd camera will i loose picture quality if i playback on a normal 1ccd camera and capture using a firewire cable?
or if i use the 3ccd camera and capture using the analogue cables av or s cables? will i loose picture quality?
or wat will happen if i use the 3ccd camera use the av cables to plug it to a anologue to digital converter then to the pc?

No. Once you've recorded the image, it's recorded. Digital is digital at that point, although it is possible you might run into a deck, timecode, or other odd problem when you start changing decks around. But on the whole, it doesn't matter at all, once it's shot.
If you capture using analog cables/output, you won't be having a bit for bit transfer from the digital tape to the computer, and that's a big part of what DV is all about. You'll lose information, and may have other issues as well, not to mention total lack/loss of the time code that's associated with the DV file.

ok so i rather use the firewire cable to capture but having problems at the moment see other post "capturing problem"
i would resort to use analogue capture as a last resort and it would only be while i rectify the firewire problem.
so capturing analogue wont loose quality?

Capturing via analogue will loose quality. Going S-Video into a A/D converter is better than composite but even doing it via component means the digitial video AND audio data is being converted back to analogue and then again to digital. Not the best way to work at all.
If you can get the A/D converter to talk to the PC via firewire then the DV device should work OK.
I've had a few problems with older Sony gear in conjunction with the M-Audio Firewire 410. Something gets scrambled somewhere and both devices loose the plot big time. More recent Sony gear like the DSR-11 works faultlessly. Time to buy one me thinks.
