DV Preview/Capture Problems...

I am encountering problems while previewing video from VV3.0 Capture. After pressing play, the preview screen shows a still of the first frame and then no other motion. I am able to hear the live audio and view the video via the camcorder.

Prior to having this P4, I had an AMD TB 750 but due to MOBO failures had to replace the processor and MOBO.

Prior to this "upgrade" I did not encounter these problems.

In addition, I have noticed that MS Movie Maker (that comes with XP) has the same problem.

System Specs:
Windows XP Pro
P4 1.6 (ABIT MOBO)
768 megs Ram
Compliant Firewire Card

Camcorder: Canon ZR10

I am by no means a video expert, but all of my capture and print to tape problems were related to a "compliant firewire card". Not only was I relying on the card to interface my DV device, but I was hanging 2 Maxtor 80 Gig drives from the card. Just not enough bandwidth. Get a good card, and I think your problems will go away.

I'm having the same problem with VV capture on my Pentium 4, but I am not having any trouble capturing DV with MS Movie Maker, although the print to tape feature of the capture program worked fine last night.

I've reading a lot about the potential issues with not having the latest version of directX (8.1). I am going to try and download the latest version.

The concern that I have is that this all worked fine until I upgraded my motherboard and CPU. This in turn caused me to reinstall (overinstall) windows XP. I think I might be dealing with some "pre-install" ghosts.
