DV Rack 2.0 HD: Sony Vegas file truncation

rtbond wrote on 4/8/2009, 5:21 AM
I recorded a performance that was around 80 minutes using DV Rack 2.0 HD and a Sony HDR-HC1. The performance appeared to record without incident, resulting in a file of about 17 GB.

When I place this (m2t) file on the timeline of Sony Vegas Pro 8.0/8.1 and Sony Vegas 7.0 the program only sees the first 23 minutes of the recording. If I open the DV Rack-created file in a media player (e.g., VLC) it shows the entire 80 minute recording.

Has anyone encountered this type of behavior and if so do you have any suggested solutions?

Thanks!

No, it is NTSF. If it was FAT32 then a 17 GB file would not be possible, right?. In any case it is NTSF.

The truncation is occurring when the file is read by Vegas.

Other thoughts?

Any of the temp files (scratch space for preview) wouldn't be on a FAT32 drive would it ? I guess you could split it into 20 minute
segments and put them back together again, but this does have a space limitation type feel to it (unless there is something funny in the file at that point in time).

I think the problem lies in the header of the file. I don't have anything more specific but that might be enough to narrow down the search. I recall this coming up before, ages ago.
