DV Type 2?

Hi,

Is there a way to extract audio from a DV type 2 recording? I have a Samsung SCD67, and I don't believe it interleaves audio and video. To date, Ulead Video Studio 7 is the only software I've been able to extract it with. I'm using the Movie Studio trial, and so far have been very impressed, but can't figure out how to capture my audio from my tapes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kevin

What format/media does that camera record to?

It's a mini DV camera.

Using SONY's software the best you can do is to capture it as a DV .avi file, load it onto the timeline, render a new audio-only .wav file, then delete the .avi file you captured.

Sorry, I should have been a bit more clear. I'm not trying to extract just the audio. I'm just trying to extract the audio. I.e., when I capture from the camera, only the video is being captured, but I want it to capture both audio & video. I assume this is because MVS is assuming DV type 1, and my camera records in DV type 2. So, I'm trying to figure out if there's some way to tell MVS that it needs to use DV type 2.

I don't think it will matter. VidCap is set up to capture exactly the type of data that your camera is sending. However, in the options there is a checkbox for "capture audio". You may have this box unchecked.

Hmm . . . the box is checked, but no audio coming off. I'll play around with a few other settings, but this may be a deal breaker for me. Thanks for all your help.

Do you have a license for ULead? If so, you might consider continuing to use it for capture, and using Movie Studio for editing.

I had an old system where for whatever reason ULead was better for capturing, and I've just stayed with it ever since for capturing. Wouldn't give up Movie Studio for editing if you paid me!
