rumor has it that windows xp service pack 2 will allow for capturing dv50 and dv100 via firewire. does anyone know:

1) if this rumor is true.
2) if true, then will vegas capture be able to capture dv50 rates once the system files are updated to service pack 2?

we have a panasonic dvcpro50 deck with the firewire option installed. currently only the FCP system can capture from it via firewire...but would LOVE to have vegas doing that.

thanks!!

With all respect I'm getting that DVCPRO 50 is solidly in the domain of Final Cut Pro. Unfortunately that is an Apple only product and so having a dual system is considerably more problematical.

I do not see anything comparable on the PC side. As far as HD the MPEG-2 medium itself is problematical in post -- yet Sony is popping them out. Don't know. I may need to break down and get an apple system?

Anybody?

I posted I think a good solution on this in a separate thread. "DVCPRO-50 PC-Vegas Solution"
