DVD-A insists on recompressing compliant files!

I am authoring a dvd. The content includes 4 separate mpeg-2 files, 720x480, hi bitrate, all with PCM audio. The files all originate from the same dvd. When I go to "prepare dvd" DVD-A wants to recompress two of the four video streams. What can I do to avoid the recompression? Can I loosen the triggers for this? Maybe it's related to small difference in video bitrate?

thanks for the links. i did search for recompression and didn't really find an answer as to what causes DVD-A to want to compress files that are already compliant.

i guess i wasn't clear.... all the .vob or .mpeg files are compliant and of the same type/specs. they are all

mpeg-2 NTSC
720x480
CBR 8000
linear PCM audio 48kHz (DVD-A is ok with this, doesn't need to recompress)

and the overall DVD length is about 45 minutes, and less than the size of one DVD-R, so neither of these are the reason for recompression. i still find it very strange that the program wants to compress 2 out of 4 files that are of the same origina and format.

I had a similar problem bringing in MPEG-2 compliant 4:3 aspect ratio footage. DVDA would import it as 16:9 by default and then attempt to re-compress or make complient back to 4:3.
To work around this I need to delete all *.SFVX files in the directory that contains my MPEG-2 footage before opeing DVDA every time then the footage imported correctly and was deemed complient by DVDA.
Silly for such an otherwise excellent product!

I like the suggestion, and I tried it, but no joy for me. I think what I may do is take the .vob files and make them into one large .mpeg-2 and see if that works.
