DVD-A Studio 5.0 (TRIAL) will not import AC3 Audio

I'm evaluating Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11.0 package which includes DVD Architect Studio 5.0. and, frustratingly, I cannot burn a DVD because, for some reason, DVD-A will just not import the AC3 audio file that I've prepared with Vegas.

I can't drag in the AC3 file from the Explorer window (yet I can drag in any other format of audio file no problem.) If I double click on the AC3 file in the explorer Window, it doesn't import (this works with any other audio formats.)

If I try to "replace" the audio file via the drop down search in the Menu Properties window, the browser will not even recognise AC3 files as a valid catagory of media file to look for. If I look for "All Media Types" the AC3 Audio file does not even appear and if I look under "All files" I am now able to select the AC3 file, but it fails to import and I get a file error which says, "the selected file is not of the required type." So it appears that my PC does not recognise AC3 audio files as a type of media file for some reason.

I even tried preparing various different formats of audio file (e.g. PCA, Sony Wave64, Wave and MP3) and these *can* easily be imported into the Audio track of DVD-A but obviously when you then try to burn a DVD, it won't work because these are all the wrong format.

In summary, I can import audio files that I cannot use (What's the point of that by the way?), but I cannot import the one type of audio file that I do have to use.

So at the moment this package looks like a pointless software that just isn't worth buying, but I appreciate that it can't possibly be that bad so it must be me. I'm sure there must be something simple that I'm doing wrong there's no answer that covers my problem on this forum or in the help menu, so I guess this is my last resort before moving on to buy a different software.

Very frustrating because apart from this glitch, I love the useability of the package.

Hope someone can help.

This is a known problem which, reportedly, SCS are working on. See http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=775146&Replies=4.

You need to uninstall the version of DVDAS that you have (Build 150) and download and install the previous version (Build 128). I believe that you can download it from here download.sonycreativesoftware.com/current/dvdastudio50.exe

Thank you so much for the quick reply. I'll try that and post back how I got on.

Glad it's not down to me this time!! :-)

Thank you, TOG62. The build 128 download on the link you posted allowed the AC3 audio to be successfully imported and a DVD to be produced.

Now I just have to get to the bottom of all the other issues with the finished DVD (but that's more about me learning the software!)

Thanks again.
