DVD Architech looks really impressive but....

OK, I'm probably missing something. I just downloaded the new beta, registered it and I tried to open any of the two dozen or so DV NTSC MPEG-2 files I made with Vegas 3.0c and DVD Architech doesn't "see" any of the files. It sees the folders, not the files, so I can't even get to square one.

Does the beta allow you to work with your own files or am I missing something obvious?

I downloaded the reg. version w/o DVD and mine said, because of licensing issues, that MP3 and Mpeg files were not allowed.

looks like they've disabled the ability to both view and write mp3 and mpeg files in the beta version (for licensing reasons). the readme says they'll both be available in the final version.

I wonder if its only value at this point is with that sample file they have available for download...

beta release notes said ac3 , mp3 & MPEG files can't be used . No burning yet either I believe !

Oops... I missed that. Oh well, that's it... This does look like another HOT SoFo application. I may disappear for a few days...

Guess I'll have to play with the samples only..

Oh well, that explains why I can't do anything with either product. They look good but right now I can't evaluate them if I can't use MPEG files.

That is correct due to licensing reasons MP3/AC3/MPG are not available with this beta. Rest assured they will be there when the product is released.

A sample project for testing your DVD burners is available on the download page. If you have a DVD burner please give it a shot. We appreciate all feedback.

Every time I try to open up the plug-in chooser, it says there are no plugins available? When I go to look for them, the app locks up and I have to kill it thru task mgr. anyone else having this occur?

OK.. Was wonding why they were on the site .. now I know. I figured they were for people that didn't have any good video files to test with, but now I see that they are the only things in the beta that you can use to test the buring/creation with.

I'm downloading them now (since I have a broadband connection). I hope the samples really show off the cool features of the product and are not just a "MyDVD"-ish type of sample.

OK.. I tried out the samples. Not bad. I have a few questions however..

1. Can you link a button to a specific menu? Say I am 3 levels deep (Root -> Title -> Chapters) and want a button to link directly back to the root menu. How do you do that? As far as I can see, you can only create a button to go back to the previous menu (or next).

2. Can you only have a single intro video? It's not a big problem, I can use V4 to combine them into a single video if need be.

3. Can you prevent an into video from being skipped? Some DVD authoring software allows you to, and some do not. Would be nice to have a choice.

4. Will the retail version allow you to create you own themes?

I'll have more questions later <g>. BTW, great product. I like it better than DVD Complete already.
