DVD Architect Sudio 4 Trial

Hi

I wanted to try out DVD Architect Studio 4 trial and downloaded the latest version from the Trials page. When I run the installer everything appears to work fine and the dialog then appears stating installation complete please reboot your computer.

I then rebooted the PC and received a message along the lines that the program was already installed and if I want to rerun the installer I should uninstall first. It would seem the installer is still running when the PC reboots.

If I just cancel that message and try to click on the desktop icon for DVD Architect Sudio 4 Trial I get a dialog that appears stating the application could not start, please ensure you have enough memory and it gives an error code of 0x8004e00a, Startup code:2

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling 3 times and the same thing happens. I can install and run the Vegas Studio trial no problem and I have Net framework 1,1 and the service patch as well.

Any ideas before I contact tech support?
Cheers
Dave

Wouldn't happen to be running Vista, would you? My wife got a new computer with Vista some weeks back, and almost every program I installed on it gave me some kind of error message. Some would run anyhow, some would not.

This is a real shot in the dark Dave, but here goes...

http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/Creator/000086CR
includes a link to an MS program Roxio recommends to cure similar symptoms with their software -- a very short summary, installers can get mixed up amongst themselves, and this application might straighten things out. However, there's some chance in my opinion that fixing the problem *might* cause the SCS software to think you're trying to bypass the trial limit... might not hurt to contact CS, or at least be prepared to send them an email if you get it fixed just to find you're now locked out.

Thanks MPM.

Time to contact tech support. I'll post back here with a solution when I hear back.

OK I've heard back from tech support - great service there.

This is the reply I got from them and it worked well.

Thank you for contacting Sony Creative Software.

I suggest that you please Go to Start-->Run and enter REGEDIT.

Within the Registry go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\, find the Sony Media Software folder (for older Sonic Foundry applications you would find the Sonic Foundry folder instead).

Right click on the folder and choose Permissions.

Make sure that Administrators, System, and any user account you log in with are all listed at the top. When you highlight each one they should have the Full Control and Read checkboxes turned on. If not, check each of those. Click Apply and Ok.

The program should then start properly.
