Howdy

Im upgarding my system to a dual processor 4gb supermachine. 2 gb sdram, 200 gb storage drive 7200, 120 gb system drive 7200 and im buying Vegas/DVD tomorow. My question is, I am a concert producer and will be creating mainly live music DVD projects. What DVDR should I buy thats inexpensive but quik enough to crank out 100 or so if I need. Any advice would be apreciated.

I've had good results with an external Firewire/USB2 Memorex DVD+RW/+R

The Sony DRU 500 has been good to me, but trying to pump out 100 DVD's would be nuts. A duplicator machine would be needed to keep it from taking days. Believe it or not, duplication 100 DVD-R's is close to the cost of replication 1000 DVD's. You would be better off to print a master DVD-R and send it to a replicator for numbers that high.

Keith has a good point. The only problem with replication is that there is a turnaround time factor to consider. Nothing like being able to crank out some copies quickly.

Currently the fastest drives are those that can do 4X DVD-Rs. Pioneer and rebadged drives (Cendyne) can burn at this speed, as well as dual-format drives like the Sony (in DVD-R mode). At this rate, you can do a full disk every 15 minutes.

Check out tigerdirect. They have several dvd-r duplicator systems. I would stay away from anything DVD+R/W because of compatibility problems with older systems.

my next acquisition:

Bravo DVD Publisher (around 3800 Canadian = 2500 USD)

50 at a crack, 4X and 8X, automatically prints full colour labels on compatible DVD-Rs, etc.

But, if we are in the common user category, what would be your suggestions for a good, reliable and easy to setup DVD burner? And one that DVD Architect will work along with no problems?
