Hi
I have a dvd writer and I’m looking for a good, on the budget dvd authoring software. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Has anyone had any experience with magix vcd/dvd burning software? Is it worth the buy? ($40 in Best Buy). I wonder why sonic foundry didn’t include this feature in its VV3. The program has only vcd burning capabilities.

Most budget users here seem to be split between

Ulead's Movie factory @ about $50
Dazzle's DVD Complete @ about $99

serach on either & you will get plenty of hits !

I'm using MyDVD. It is not without its headaches and I
had to rely on their support on several occasions or I
would have been unable to use it at all. Their is a bit
of discussion on dv.com forum as well.

Another cheap author program is "Neo DVD plus4" from mediostream."www.mediostream.com"
I know it has shortcomings in menu and thumbnail picture quality but its very fast and reliable. You can import vob files and use pcm or dolby digital audiostream.
Further mor it captures DV to mpeg2 in realtime.
But again the menu and thumbnail shortcomings are annoing.
Perhaps there will be an upgrade soon.
All cheap authoring programs has severe shortcomings in some way.
Nero is coming with DVD authoring possibilities in their new demo (express) but it seems to be buggy (see dvdplusrw.orgforum)
