DVD burning speed question

I use DVDA2 and want to burn a project to a Maxell DVD+R that has 120 min capacity in SP mode. (4.7GB).

1. Will the speed I burn it at affect the number of DVD players the DVDs will work on.? I'm under the impression that the slower the burn, the more players can play them back. I usually burn at 2 1/2 because my projects are short, but this one is about 70 minutes for each of 3 DVDs and I would like to speed up to 4 or 8 times if nothing else will be affected.
Thanks for any replies.

Probably not. It is more or less an old wives tale. You can download CD/DVD Speed from this site:

http://www.cdspeed2000.com/

and test discs yourself. In particular, if you have to make more than one copy, make each copy at different speeds. Then, use this software to test the resulting copies. If the error rate isn't much different (there will always be small variations from disc-to-disc), then you can burn with confidence at the higher speed. The beauty of this approach is that it is scientific, and it will show you on your computer, with YOUR media, and YOUR burner, whether there is a difference. What people tell you here really doesn't matter by comparison.
