OK Im confused, I think mpeg-1 is for VCD's. Is mpeg-2 for DVD's It makes sence to me, but when I render a Mpeg-2 video file out of vegas, the quality doesnt seem to meet the quality I see in DVDs that you can rent in a video store. I dont have a camera that they use in the professional movie industry, but someting seems wrong, or maybe Im doing something wrong? Anybody have an idea?

What do you mean exactly?

Yes, MPEG1 can be used to make VCDs and MPEG2 for DVDs...but that doesn't change the source file.

If you shot video using a "regular" camcorder and captured it and edited in VV...rendering to MPEG isn't going to magicallly make it look like a professionally shot and processed movie shot in hollywood (with camera's and processing....and lights) that cost waaaayyyy more than I made in my lifetime.

Is that what you mean by "quality"?
