DVD Hanging and Skipping

Gentlemen:

I am now at my wits end.

Each time I burn a DVD, thoughtout to complete project it hangs and skips. Even stops to where the DVD player completely stops.

These projects are between 55 - 60 mins in length.

First to start, I have completed Restored the complete system. Brought it back to they way I purchased it. Then installed Vegas and DVDA on the machine. I then did the upgrade for both. Vegas 6 and DVDA 3.

Burned the DVD's the same way as I have done for over a year now.

But now with each one they are skipping, pausing, and coming to a complete stop.

I can not figure this one out.

I have a HP M490N, Running Windows XP Media Center 2005, Pent. 4; 3.4 GhZ, 1 gig RAM. GForce FX5600 graphics card; Memorex 16X-DDL Drive.

So if anyone can offer any suggestions before I trash the whole thing. I would VERY GREATFUL

Jeff

Sounds like a media issue. What type of media are you using? Low quality media will provide low quality results. I use Taiyo Yuden and have very good results - used to use Ritek, but they seem to have gone downhill.

Media is one likely cause although there are some other things you could check:
- Is you hard drive near full and/or fragmented: if the hard drive is heavily fragmented, there can be dips in the transfer speed
- is there a problem playing the prepared dvd from your harddrive ?
- if you have Nero: see what the buffer is doing while burning
