DVD Menus and burning order

OK I'm new to this program but felt I had a pretty good grasp on how to use it. I downloaded my video. Edited it. Went to make a DVD. Chose to add a scene selection menu. Had everything all ready. Did a project preview looked great. Burned it to the disc. The scene selection does not show up. Hit the other menu button. It started to play in the middle of my video. So I hit the skip back and the entire movie is burned, it just does not start at the beginning. What the hell is going on?
Attempt two: Deleted all the media from my computer. Started from scratch. Chose different video all together. Made the menu, scene selections etc. Tried the preview looked great. Burned the DVD. Some how some way it re-burned the same video project I had tried before. Worked the same way, no scene selection and it started 1/2 into the video. What is going on with this program? I am stumped and clueless as to how in the hell this happened. Any ideas?

How are you viewing the burned DVD? With a standalone player or with software on your PC? WinDVD for example tries to keep track of where you last were on a DVD, regardless of what DVD is actually being played, so you end up with strange behavior like this - I've found that WM9 player is pretty good about doing things correctly.

As for reburning the same project it sounds like you missed a step - when you click "make DVD" if you want to prepare and burn you need to click the prepare and burn button. Just clicking the burn button will use the last directory that you did a prepare/burn too, so you'll potentialy get a duplicate.

Well the 2nd part makes sense. But I did not use my computer for the play back. I used my DVD player on my TV.

Yep that was the problem. Thanks.
