DVD menus and scenes on tv screen

alphalogan wrote on 4/18/2011, 2:31 PM
When I insert a menu/scenes into a video from Vegas 10 using Architect 5 the menu appears in the preview so that I can navigate to the various scenes. Similarly if I burn to a dvd the same is possible when viewed through my pc. However, using the same dvd and viewing through a tv the menu does not appear and the video itself starts to play. Can any one please advise me as to what I am doing wrong and how I can overcome the problem so that the menu appears on the tv and navigation to individual scenes is possible.
Thanks.

In your Project Overview window, look at your DVD's structure. Where is the little purple box with a white star in it? This will indicate the DVD's start point.

Started again going through each bit very carefully - set Start Point "Menu Page 1" This time menu fine on PC but with TV the menu appeared at the end of the video! I would really like it at the start. Also under "Video" there is the following message - "? Link most recent menu" not sure what this means. Could attach a full screen shot but not sure how to do it on this Forum.
The following may help:
Untitled
Menu
Menu(Page 1)
1: Tour 2011
? Link - Most recent menu
2: Scene Selection
Scene Selection (Page 1)
1. Link .....
2. Link .....
3. Link .....

Many thanks if you can help.

If the disc plays correctly on your computer but not on your DVD player/TV, then the indications are that the problem is with your disc and/or player.

This could happen if:
1) You are using a poor brand of DVD disc. Verbatim and Maxell make great discs. Memorex and off-brands should be avoided.
2) Your disc was recorded at too fast a speed. Set your burn speed to no more than 4x, even if the disc says it can be burned at a faster speed.
3) Your DVD player doesn't read home-burned discs well. The test for this is to play your DVD on a friend's DVD player and see if it plays correctly on it.

In any event, the problem does not appear to be with DVD Architect or the way you have your project set up.

Many thanks, DVD is a Sony DVD-RW and have just tried it on my son's dvd player and although it coughed and spluttered in loading the disc it got there in the end and lo and behold the menu was at the front and not the back. It therefore looks like either the disc or my Sony DVD player. Any way thank you for your help.

RWs can be even more challenging that home-burned DVDs on many players, alpha.

Before you give up on your DVD player, try a regular DVD-R.

Using a Verbatim DVD-R no change with my DVD player on TV, menu at end of video, however, on my daughter's DVD player played perfectly menu at start followed by video. Do not understand it, but obviously the problem is my DVD player.

Hi,

Has similar issue on my NEW DVD player... not too chuffed.

What I found was that if I inserted a small picture or video in the startup area to play just before the menu, then it worked on PC and the funny player.

Not sure if this might help you.
