Hi
I read in a review about DVD Architect in " Computer Video Magazine" and the reviewer said that REAL NTSC DVD player can't play back mpg layer 2 sound, but can play ac3

is this true ? ( I live in England and we have Pal dvd players that can play back NTSC but this is not a true NTSC DVD player )

If it is true then why does DVD Architect select mpg layer 2 sound as default when making a DVD NTSC discs !

any help please

mpg layer 2 is NOT in the NTSC DVD Spec. However, mpg layer 2 IS in the PAL DVD spec, and since most DVD players use a common chipset, most NTSC players can play mpg layer 2 audio.

If you're concerned about maximizing the compatibility with DVD players, stick to PCM or AC-3. If you're just interested in getting it to work on a few DVD players, test them out - they can probably handle mpg layer 2 audio.

thanks bcbarnes,

Knowing what you have told me I'll play it safe and go for the AC-3

thanks once again
