ntfs

dvd-r or +r really don't mater much on most modern dvd players for compatibility .. i prefer dvd-r but others will say the oppisite .. ussually this question ends up a big screaming match ..

both will work just fine -- get a sony or a pioneer or plextor that can do both..

more of an issue is the quality of the disks ...

I'd have to agree, I have a Sony and have tried burning both. I'm an engineer with a very logical brain BUT this give me a migraine. There just isn't a clear answer, buy something that will burn both and find what works best for you!

As to FAT32 versus NTFS, use NTFS unless you're using small capacity drive and you wouldn't be doing that anyway if your editing video.

DVD-R.

I posted a compatibility test report around a week ago:

I use Pioneer A0x and a Sony DRU something +/- R. Mostly I burn to -R because I can get Verbatim DVD-R 2X laserjet printable blanks for under 4$ Canadian. Media cost/reliability is my primary consideration, not +/-.

I use a Pioneer -05 burner and burn Ritek G04 (certified 4x) blanks obtainable for $2 in quantities of 25. I hear the inkjet-printable blanks are about the same price.

Could you post a web address for the Riteks? No one up here carries that brand so I will buy directly from the US. I don't bother with 4X Verbatims because they are very pricey.

thanks,
