DVD PLAYBACK CHOPPY

I started using Nero to burn my project to DVD because the My DVD program is awful. It wouldn't even recognize my media. Anyways, everything is fine, except one portion of my project is choppy. Like it pauses, then jumps to the next part of the video. This part lasts for about 10 sec. then it is fine. If have rendered, re-rendered in all formats to no avail. I have wasted many blank discs! The project plays back fine when previewing in the program. Thanks.

The first thing you need to do is invest in some re-writeable dvd-rw (or dvd+rw) discs and burn those. That way, you don't waste a disc on a bad burn.

As for your choppy playback: does it happen on all players? I've had some projects not play on a particular player (while other projects using the same software burn fine on that player.) Never could figure out why, though.

Does it always happen at the same place when you re-render?

Have you tried rendering just that segment as an AVI to see if it happens then?

If it always happens at the same spot -- say, at the same transition -- it may be a buggy spot, and you can replace it.

If you're getting periods of perfect play followed my occasional choppiness, you may have a background process, antivirus software, network or cable modem ping or spyware at work. (This is usually more of a problem for output to video than internal rendering.)

If so, there are solutions we can try.

It appears to be the same spot. I rendered each way and it did it in every format. Last night I got it to burn with My DVD and it was flawless. Could this be a Nero issue then? Thanks for your resonses.
