DVD Player Problems

I recently purchased Sony Movie Studios+DVD. I am trying to create Custom DVD's with video that I drag and drop into the menu system I created using the software. I have tried several ways either by optimizing larger DVD's 9.8GB and above into 4.7GB using the Optimize feature or cutting down the size of the DVD's to around 4.2GB without any optimization.

Either way I get mixed results when trying to play them in home DVD players.. SOme players will play them fine, some on't recognize the DVD disc, and yet others will play it and taking 4 to 5 minutes to try to read it, and then if I eject after a successful read, it tells me this disc can't be read correctly.

Is there something I am doing wrong in the Burn process?

I bought the software to create Custom DVD's of a Online Gaming Replay for a League I am in , but I don't want to spend the time and money on doing DVD's that won't function in the DVD players the users have. Is there anything I should be checking or doing?

PLEASE HELP!

I had this same problem. I found that it is the way that the remote buttons are set. I'm still working on trying to figure this out, but I put a play media first .30 second video in then I told the remote button to play. Now it works no problem. Before I couldn't get the DVD player to even eject the disc.

Could you please explain how you do this in a little more detail, I don't quite understand, but sound like something I should try.

I place a Intro Image, then it goes to menu and you can select menus, and submenu videos.. and such..

THanks for the tip, just need some more info.. Glad I am not the only one with this problem

Cheers..

Under remote buttons you have:
Tile play = On
Stop = Off

That seemed to do the trick. Make sure that you have your firstplay video highlighted and then click on properties and then on Remote Buttons.

I still cannot get this work with DVD players.. in the DVDA I have it all set up the way I want it, and when I burn it, the DVD players I have either play it with no problems, or even using the same player wont' read the disc, or it takes up to 4 to 5 minutes to get anything, either an error or for the DVD to play.

I also tried my PC DVD player Drive and it doens't even recognize the disc as a DVD. Meaning It won't auto play or play when I tell a DVD player software to play the disc on the PC.

I am using Maxell DVD-R disc and Memorex DVD-R discs with the same results. The videos on the disc are avi files that I dragged and dropped into the DVDA menu system I designed.

I am using DVDA Version 2.0 (Build22) is there a different version I should be using?

I tried to locate the remote button settins you spoke of and couldn't find anything close on my end. I am burning with NTSC Settings 720x480 29.970 fps.

Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated. I would hate to think I wasted $100 (not to mention the wasted discs) on this software if it won't do what I want it to.

SONY PLEASE HELP!

This is a peer support forum. If you want help from Sony you should click on the support link and use one of the formal support options available.

Yes, there is a later release of DVDA 2.0, you should download it and see if that helps, though to be honest, some of what you describe sounds like a typical compatability issue - not all DVD players correctly play burned media, especially if the player is more than 2 years old. In any event, trying the latest version of DVDA certainly couldn't hurt.

I downloaded the update on the site, but it says my Reg Number is invalid. and I used the one straight from the manual. Is this the wrong software I am getting? I click on DVD architect 2.0B and I currently have DVD Architect Studio 2.0 Build 22

Is there some update I am missing?

No. There is no update to DVD Architect Studio. The update you downloaded its big brother, DVD Architect.

I'm using DVDA Version 2.0b (Build 130). It is sometimes tricky to find the right menu but this is exactly what I experienced. I tried all different brands of media etc. It is the menu settings. Under the VIEW menu make sure that the properties option is checked. Then highlight the firstplay object. Then look at the properties form. On this form you will find the remote button options.

I built the exact project with Stuido, DVDit and it worked fine. So I knew it wasn't the MPEG or the media. It worked just fine in DVDA too when I realized it was a settings issue.
