DVD shows artifacts - help!

Hello!

I'm relatively new to DVD Architect but have been very impressed by how easy it is to get going. I've been trying to burn my first DVD with the program. Two short music videos of mine. Menus are all fine and the first track comes out clean. The second one has a stuttering effect - with some blocky digital noise though. I've tried 3 different DVD+Rs and the noise is always there in the same spot - always within the first 5 seconds of the track. I did a search through the forum and found some possible tips but I wanted to post this question anyway to see if anyone had an idea what could be causing it.

Here's what my settings look like:

Two PAL AVI files each about 3.5 minutes long
File 1 audio sample rate = 48...
File 2 audio sample rate =41... (this is the file that stutters on the DVD)
bitrate = 8.000 Mbps
audio format = PCM stereo
burn speed 1X

I burned the same project using NeoDVD which came with my burner and there was no noise at all! Of course I'd like to use DVDArchitect because I can do a lot more with the menus. One more thing, the part of the file where the noise shows up is super slo-mo done in Vegas. There are other parts of the video with the same effect and they're fine so I don't think that could be causing it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Kurt

Try rendering both files to MPEG 2 in Vegas. Then burn with DVDA. If you are importing AVI or MPEG files audio should be included. Do you have video noise or audio noise or both, that was not clear. When you check optimize, DVDA should indicate that it is rendering all video and audio if you have presented AVI files. Have you tried burning the files in the Video_ts folder created by DVDA with Nero or other burning program?

Thanks for the response.

I'm only getting video noise. Actually, I tried the DVD+R on a friend's DVD player yesterday and there was no noise! My DVD player is about 2 years old and so maybe that's the problem. Anyway, I'll try those other things you mentioned to see if I can get it to play back noise-free on my player.
