First, assure that you've got a DVD+R drive and not a DVD-R drive.

Then, if the DVD+RW doesn't work, try a DVD+R instead -- just to ensure the interface between the program and burner works.

If you're still having problems, after you click Make DVD, select the option to Prepare instead of Burn. This will save your DVD files to a folder on your hard drive rather than directly to a disc. You can then use your burner software (Nero, RecordNow, whatever) to burn the VIDEO_TS folder from these files to whatever disc you'd like.

If I use another program (I have Roxio) to burn the file prepared in DVD Architect to a DVD, will everything be exactly the same? Like will the menus work or will i have to set up a menu again in the new program? I opened the folder where the files were prepared and there are three vob files. two appear to be the same thing. If i burn file direct to disc and put the menu file and the actual movie, will it come out with a menu that leads to the movie?

Also, Do you think installing the software on a different computer might solve the problem?

When you use Roxio to burn the VIDEO_TS folder to a DVD disc, the results will be identical to your burning directly from DVD Architect.

The one exception is if you use Nero to burn the disc. With Nero, you just have to tell it to burn a playable rather than data disc. Most other burner software doesn't distinguish.

I don't have nero. I used roxio and burned a data disc, but it's just the files. Is there a way that I can get it to play or do I need to burn it a different way?

I have Roxio.

DA5 will prepare an iso image file. This is the file you need to access and tell Roxio to burn a disc from this hard disc iso image file. Then, the disc will be fully DVD compatible and play on any player.

DA5 shows you where it is placing the subject iso file before preparing.

Okay, so I need to prepare the file then burn as an iso image file? Before I just prepared it and then used Roxio to burn a data disc with the VIDEO_TS files but that didn't work. I can only access the files on a computer, the DVD doesn't play. In Roxio do I need to make a data disc or burn the files direct-to-disc?

Also, what exactly is an iso file? I just see a folder with VIDEO_TS files. Is that it?

You want to burn the VIDEO_TS folder, but it must be burned as a VIDEO DVD, not a DATA Disk. the TS folder contains all of the DVD information, but it must be burned to a disk with certain file layout specifications that conform to a DVD disk.

So do you know exactly how to do that in roxio? Sorry, I just don't want to keep re writing or using too many more discs. Actually, if anybody could tell me how to burn the files I created in architect with any software, a trial or whatever. I just need to get something burnt as soon as I can.

Hellot:

ISO is a standard for creating an image of a disc. It's file structure in your PC will be *.iso. When burning a DVD, the burner must write from this special file type so that the content (of the DVD) is in the proper order and format for it to be played either in your PC or in stand alone DVD players. Burning the content of an iso folder just as DATA will not work.

Try the following steps:

In DVD Architect :

1.- Click on Make DVD
2.- Select Prepare, do not select Burn since you are having problems.
3.- Browse at the Prepare Folder entry and note exactly where DA is placing the prepared folder, which will be an iso image (*.iso)
4.- Your last run will show. Otherwise, run the project at hand to completion.
5.- You can close DA.

In Roxio (Easy Media Creator):

1.- Start Roxio
2.- Depending on your version, two lists may show up. On the right there may be an entry "Burn Image". If so, select it. Or, on the list on the left side select "Copy". Do not select Data.
3.- Select "Burn image to disc"
4.- In the page that opens browse to the iso file that was indicated in DA and select it.
4.- Click burn and all should be well.

This procedure assumes that your burner is configured correctly. If it is fairly modern, it should make no difference whether you burn a DVD-R or a DVD+R. The burning program will detect and run the correct way. Otherwise, you must make certain that the media is compatible with your burner.

Hope this helps. Cheers.

With Roxio I unfortunately don't have that feature. I only have a version of roxio that came on my computer, sooo, any suggestions?
Former user wrote on 1/22/2010, 12:11 PM
IF Roxio does not allow you to burn a DVD Video Disk or burn an ISO image, then download IMGBURN. Then burn the Video_TS folder and it will make a DVD Video disk. and it is free.

That seems like a rather restricted version of Roxio.

In any case, you must be able to get the Video_TS folder and copy it as a folder (data) to your DVD.

By the way, in testing your question I discovered that my DA5.0b cannot burn directly an SD DVD from within the program. The resulting DVD does not play in Sony player. However, if as suggested, I access the Video_TS folder and copy it to a DVD with Roxio or Power2Go then all is well. Go figure. But now I know and may explain some reported incompatibilities with other people ...

Cheers.

Yeah, it is restricted. I didn't realize that. I wish I had one project go smoothly; It'll probably never happen. Anyway, I downloaded imgburn. I had downloaded it before for something, but uninstalled it and forgot about it. So I went to the portion where I build a DVD. Is that right? So far everything went smoothly it said the files had been written and it ejected and retracted the DVD and then said verifying sectors but then it started giving me a bunch of read errors. It got up to 350 some errors and it said completed successfully and I tried playing it but no luck. If someone could give me some instructions, that would be great. I wish I could figure this out for myself. Time is becoming kind of an issue now though. Oh and how do i determine the best write speed.

Thanks everybody. I really appreciate the help you've given.
