DVD Won't Play - Must be DVD Architect Problem

I usually prepare my dvd in DVDa and burn with nero. Consistantly reliable results.

Beware of the bit rate when preparing. Older players work best with a lower bit rate. I usually set mine to 5.25 rather than 8 which is the default.

Thanks for that.....looks like burning with Nero is the only reliable solution.

Would Nero have corrected the problem that DVDAS created, when the "dud" disc was copied in Nero & then played.

If this is the case, surely the problem could easily be fixed in DVDAS, & save all the hassles??

Something else you might want to look at. In several discussions on the Ulead DVDWS boards, people have had problems correctly burning DVDs with Nero's InCD packet writing software installed and active on the same machine. You might try disabling or removing it if it is on your machine and try again. (not the Nero Burning ROM software, just InCD)

I'm just getting started with DVDA 3, and I hope I don't run into problems similar to yours. So far, all of my test DVDs have played back fine on my home Panasonic player, but I have not gotten any feedback from "outside" yet.

Wouldn't it be funny if that had been the cause of most of the problems people have had burning DVDs in DVDA all this time since v1.0?

Okay, but not "ha ha" funny...

I don't think i have the Nero InCD program. I have Nero Burning Rom 6- Version 6.3.1.17, & Nero Start Smart - Version 1.0.1.22 & a Cyberlink Gigabyte PowerDVD 5.0 program for plying DVD's. & another program called Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.

InCD usually installs with the Nero Suite. Check the Icons on the right of your taskbar, and also look at processes under task manager to see if there is a TSR program from either Nero or perhaps Roxio running in the background.

It may have nothing to do with the problem, but as I mentioned, it seems to be a common thread over on the Ulead boards.

Is this really the solution that DVDA does not produce reliable DVD's? I opened an email support question with Sony, but have yet to hear back. To me that seems to be the easiest part of this whole process, how could they have gotten it so wrong?

I did download Nero. I'm a little confused as to how to use Sony for editiing and chapter setup and then Nero to burn. Can you give me the details? I've been using Vegas to edit and then opening the avi up in Nero to ID the chapters. I don't like the editing in Nero or the chapter ID. You cannot select a different thumbnail image to display on your menu.

All true, but I have to agree with stilltrying -- I have DVDA 3.0b and Vegas 6, and have seen the same thing. Using Pinnacle Studio 9 to burn -R media, the DVD plays on my player, but using the same hardware (burner and media and computer) to burn with DVDA results in an unreadable disk.

In fact, I let DVDA prepare it and burned it with Nero, and it is STILL unrecognizable to the Phillips player. If it were the -R media alone, the Pinnacle would also fail, but this seems to point rather squarely at DVDA -- something about the content of the files is just not right.
