DVDA-3, Nero, and DL Projects

rtbond wrote on 4/24/2005, 4:39 AM
Folks,

With single layer DVD+R discs I'm preparing the DVD in DVDA-2 and burning in Nero v6.x This works fine and gets around the limited set of DVD writers supported by DVDA.

I understand Nero provides Dual Layer (DL) DVD burning support (although I;m never used it). Can I do the same thing (prepare in DVDA, and burn in Nero) using DVDA-3 for Dual Layer projects?

Has anyone tried this?

Thanks!

p.s. Yes, I understand I must also have a DL burner.

If you have DVDA-3, you can do all. no other soft you need

That was not my question.

A main reason some people do not use DVDA to burn projects is because of its weak DVD burner support. I can't imagine DVDA-3 has changed in this regard.

So, back to the original Nero/DVDA-3 question (please). :-)

It seems to me that if Nero will burn a Video-ts and Audio-TS folder to a single layer disc, it should be able to do so with a DL disc as well. I wouldn't expect a problem.

DVDa no longer recognizes my single layer burner, although I'm sure it once did. So Nero is what I use to burn DVDs.

Thanks Rob.

When Dual Layer burners were first hitting the market (and DVDA-2 did not support it), I asked the same question and there seemed to be some concerns about the burning application (Nero in this case) properly layer switching on _TS files created by a 3rd party authoring program (DVDA-3 in this case).

I was wondering is anyone had tried this.

Thanks again

The reply, "If you have DVDA-3, you can do all. no other soft you need", is more accurate than you realise. DVDA 3 has dramatically increased support for the number of DVD writers on the market. You can do ALL without the need of NERO.
