DVDA 4 Picture compilations - no fades?

I only very briefly this morning attempted to create a picture compilation using the new slideshow features. It seemed simple enough and had lots of pan and zoom options for each picture in the compilation, and also allowed keyframing - excellent. But I didn't see any options to fade individual images or crossfade sequential images. Did I miss something? If it is not there, that sure is a shame, because any respectable slideshow creator with that much power over panning and zooming ought to have similar control over fading and crossfading. I'm not asking for transitions, just simple fades.

Personally, I use Vegas for creating videos and DVD Architect for making DVDs. But I'm weird that way. ;-)

I"ve been making slideshows in Vegas for years, and I can do it pretty quickly and efficiently, so I guess I'll continue to do that.

But if they are not, as I suspect, I am surprised as much as anything that Sony went to all the trouble to beef up the slideshow capability in DVDA, , by allowing you to pan and zoom, and make other adjustments in the photo, but appears to have left out controls for a significant aspect of slideshow creation - the transition from one slide to the next. Most all slideshow creation functions within other DVD authoring software includes tools for transitions.

By leaving out this feature, it more or less renders the other significant improvements in the slideshow features moot. If you can't control transitions between photos, what is the point of controlling pan and zoom?

Overall this is a very nice feature, although have to agree about missing fades/transitions. Ofcourse Vegas provides all the tools for a slideshow but it's a nice feature when you don't have much time.

Question: how does the slideshow feature in DVDA4 compare with the samelike feature in Vasst's "Ultimate S" ?

There's really no comparison between the 2. DVDA is after all, first and foremost a DVD authoring program, not a general purpose NLE.

In addition to leting you select trnasitions, UltimateS will create pan and zoom movements for you, change aspect ratios, fit to music, etc.

Have since downloaded a copy of Ultimate S and tested it on some of my slideshow ideas: it really works like a soft breeze - with music, fades , transitions etc: Great stuff!
