DVDA Bluray (BD) Prepare Image size

SEVideo wrote on 8/24/2012, 1:04 PM
DVDA says that my project is 22.4GB. So I successfully prepare it to an ISO file and when I try to burn it says the image is too big. ImgBurn says the image size is 23,928 MB and the Disc size is 23,866 MB and won't burn it either... I used a bitrate calculator and rendered at 1920x1080 CBR 22,000,000. Anybody have this problem and come up with a solution? This will be the 3rd time I've rendered a 2 hour and 22 minute project...! Thanks!

Well, the rule of thumb is 2 hours on a standard BluRay and twice that on a dual-layer disc. So you're pushing the limits a little bit.

But if you selected the option to Fit to Disk on the Optimize screen, it should have packed your video down adequately on a 23.28 gig disc.

I put 2.5 hours of SD video on a DVD-R with good quality, so 2:20 on a BluRay should be fine. I can lower the bitrate to 21,500,000 and it should fit, but my question is why DVDA says I have plenty of room, but builds an image that won't fit.

Yep, that's strange...it's usually the opposite!

Did you remember to close and reopen DVD Architect before burning?

I'm wondering where you are looking; is it on the Optimize Disc dialog? What "% of media" is it showing you? I'd give myself at least a 5% buffer.

I would want to look at that window and see how complex your project is, because as you can see DVDA is only estimating what the result will be.
