Why would this be? I've burned tons of DVDs using some of the cheapest software available. And when I use DVDA for extremely simply DVDs, it burns just fine.
But when I try to be a little more creative, DVDA won't my project burn to disc. Any ideas as to why?

Could you be more specific? DVDA couldn't care less how "simple" or "creative" your project is at that stge. It's all just 1s and 0s when it comes to burning to disc. If the complexity of the project is the issue, it's more likely to happen during the render or prepare stage.
Where / when does DVDA "fail," and are you getting any kind of error message?
