As posted earlier my external DVD writer has Firewire and USB2. DVDA worked ok with the USB2 but not Firewire.
I checked some posts regarding this issue. One option was to give microsoft $35.00 and that would get me a hotix for my problem.
Unfortunately, for microsoft, they kind of help you by saying that the hotfix will be in uptodated versions of service pack 2. Service pack 2 is a free download.
I downloaded the latest version of service pack 2 last night and now DVDA recognises my writer and burns through Firewire with no problems.
