DVDA only iso image - won't burn a disc

teaktart wrote on 7/7/2013, 2:04 PM
Both DVDA 5.2 and versions of 6.0 only offer to make an iso. image when I want to burn my project to a dvd. In the "Select Burn Parameters" window below Volume name: the next line says "Device" and it is not seeing my burner.

Used the iso image that was created and it burned OK using Image Burn and played as a finished dvd so its not my burner at fault.

Any suggestions on how to get it recognized again? Have already re-installed and that didn't solve the problem. Everything used to function....just fine.

thanks,
eileen

Use the "Prepare" command to write a DVD folder that you can burn from later.
Other users don't recommend DVDA 6 because there are some problems, and no real advantage over 5.x

teakart - examine your system OS 7? 64bit ? check for use of legacy driver for DVD burner? How old make and model burner?
Any firmware updates? Does your burner work with Nero or RoxCD or , native burn in your OS?

In DVDA go to Options > Preferences > Burning tab in DVD Architect and clear the checkbox marked "Use legacy disc drivers". See if this solves your problem.

Dang, the legacy driver unchecked got my burner recognized! Thats good...

However, now I'm getting an error saying the project is too large to fit on a
dvd-r...not good -can't proceed.
At the same time DVDA says the project totals 3.4GB and is 71% of disc capacity so that not the problem.... tried a couple of blanks and keep getting stopped.

My computer is really boggy today and slow and I can'tfigure what all is the trouble. SystemRestored to much earlier date before lots of updates but so far no improvement. Perhaps its affecting all my softwares? even though I could edit just fine in V12 with a 'fast' computer last night ~

Getting same error with both 5.2 and 6.0 versions of DVDA

Ignore the message.
Prepare your dvd to a new folder.
Close DVD Architect.
Open DVD Architect.
Burn your Prepared folder to disc.

All the more reason to return to Musicvid's suggestion to burn an image or a DVD folder. Then, you don't have to depend on DVD Architect's estimate of whether it will fit.

Thank you!
I did what you suggested (3rd time making another folder) and same message about capacity but I was able to click my way through and it did burn the disc.

Never had this happen with any DVDA versions including 5.2 which is what I used to do this experiment. Way too clumsy a process!

All along could copy/burn with Image Burn v.2.5.5.0 which is the last version that didn't require 'building' my image. Most often I just copy/burn whole discs and hate the 'new' way with the later versions..

Latest version of VLC player is not playing DVD without stopping, while WMP plays it just fine. The mystery continues...but I'm not a 'mystery buff;' ugh!

Thanks again!
