DVDA playback error!! Please help!

I have been working on our wedding DVD for many, many, (too) many months and I am still getting the same error. I have contacted sony , they think it is my DVD burner (which is a sony product). However, I disagree b/c the problem starts before the DVD is actually burned...

So before I prepare my DVD project, everything looks great (in the order that I want). Great! I Prepare the project to a specified folder on my hard drive. However, when I review the files before burning to the DVD the chapters are not in the correct order anymore. I tried renaming the files so they would be in the correct order (from the control panel) and this didn't work either. Is anyone else having this problem? Like I said, everything looks perfect before preparing the DVD.

I have burnt the same project in nero with no problems. However, I don't like the menu options in nero hence I would like to burn in DVDA.

The DVD I am trying to burn has 2 menus on the first screen. "Play All" and "Scene Selection" The "scene selection" menu has 12 chapters. When I select "Play all" it starts with the correct chapter, however it is labeled chapter 11, not chapter 1. When I select from the "Scene selection" menu the first chapter is still says chapter 11 when selected.

I am sooo frustrated! Has this happened to anyone else? Please help!

double check the chapters are named properly & that the buttons link to the correct chapters, that could of been changed.

First off thanks to TheHappyFriar for your response. I did check this many times.

The response I received back from Sony stated that if you have this problem delete the chapters from your project and re-add the chapters in the correct order. I edited some of my chapters by dragging and dropping them where appropriate. For some reason this does not work, even if you properly link the chapters.

I wanted to reply this here as ALL of the literature I read did not state this. Hope this helps somebody!

If you can post the DAR file somewhere, I can download it and probably figure out what is going on. You don't need to post any of your media files.

If you put lots of MPEG-2 files in your DVD, and each file is a separate "chapter" (it's actually a titleset, not a chapter, if this is what you have done), then you need to go to the File -> Order DVD Files dialog and make sure the titles are in the correct order. If they aren't drag each one up/down until you have everything in the correct order.

If you are talking about the order in which buttons appear in each dialog, and which one has the initial focus, this is changed by dragging the items on each menu, but not on the main screen in the center, but on the project list on the left. For each menu, those should be in the same order as you want things to play, with chapter 1 at the top of the list, followed by chapter 2, etc.

If you are talking about what happens when one title finishes playing and the next one starts, then for each MPEG-2 file you put into your project, you need to set it's "end action" so it points to the next title in your project.

If you are using playlists, or music compilations or slide compilations, then there are other issues.

But, like I said, if you upload the DAR file to a place like YouSendIt.com, I can retrieve it and look at it (although I still only have DVDA 4.0, so if you have 4.5, even though I own it, I haven't installed it and I won't be able to help you).
