DVDa, PS3, bluray... intro before menu not working

Anybody else seeing this?

I can burn a Blu ray disk with a menu without issues, but if I try to place some introduction media prior to the menu, it ends in more or less a broken link when played on the PS3. The introduction media plays fine but then it stops. It does not link to the menu and continue on.

I have checked the simulation in DVDa and it works fine. The test disk that I have done even works flawlessly when played back on the computer...but it fails in the PS3

Is there something special we need to do to get the PS3 to cooperate with introduction media??

Just a wild shot. Try taking out the fade up at the beginning of the menu. Changing the alpha channel is kind of a wierd approach, maybe the player is trying to fathom what it's supposed to fade it up over the top of. If that fixes it then precomp the menu over black so you can loose the aplha channel.

Thanks Bob...

I tried that already and it didn't work.

However I *THINK* I may have figured this out. I have been playing with this all night, and what I have in my menu is a M2V (for a motion background) only it is interlaced. It appears that the PS3 may be allergic to interlaced menu back grounds. I just created a short test disk with the same motion background.... only rendered out as progressive and it seemed to work. Now I'll go back to my main project and apply this theory.... cross my finger... sing out at least 3 hail Mary's.... and anything else I can think of.

Will ya take an IOU written on toilet paper in the rain? :)

Well... re-rendering my motion menu M2V as progressive seems to work.... even the keyframing of the alpha for menu and button fade-in works fine. The only logical conclusion I can come to at this point is that the PS3 is simply allergic to motion menus of the interlaced persuasion.

There's only one remaining problem that needs to be worked out and that is the highlight.... which is NOT keyframable so the menu starts with a blank screen as it is supposed to... but the highlight mask is visible right from the start. Right now I have the Highlight style set for UNDERLINE so the menu starts with a black screen and a yellow highlight line down in the bottom where the button fades in some 5 seconds later. I think the only thing I can do with this since you can't keyframe the highlight, is to change it's color to near black (or at least a much darker color) so it blends in with the black screen as the menu starts up.
