DVDA Startup Problems - Easy, I think

dvdfool wrote on 3/18/2003, 10:14 PM
I am using DVDA 1.0a on a Novell network and receive a crashing error (see text below) whenever I start up the program while logged onto the network. I'm on WinXP Pro. I get my Internet access through a proxy on the network, so it's very helpful to be logged in.

If I just log into the workstation without logging into the Novell network, DVDA works fine.

I'm using an HP DVD200i with 1.51 firmware. Machine is an Athlon XP 1700 with 512MB.

Does anyone have any clue about what could cause this? The only difference that DVDA should detect is that I suddenly have multiple network drives available. In fact, I believe all drive letters are used when logged into the Novell network.

The full error text is shown below. The error is for the DVDA demo because I kept on trying to reinstall DVDA in an attempt to troubleshoot the problem. I didn't want to "use up" my serial number via multiple and repeated registrations. The error still occurred when I used a fully registered version.

The same problem occurs with DVDA 1.0, so the 1.0a update didn't suddenly cause this problem.

Any clues or hints would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Bill

I just removed access to all network drives and that seemed to cure the problem. It doesn't seem to be a Novell problem as much as a "lots of drive letters used" problem.

SoFo -- care to see if this is a more general issue when all available drive letters are used?
